"Tornado" (near) leads the island herd ashore from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island during the annual Wild Pony Swim.
Tornado has been a fan favorite by many pony watchers over the years and has been pictured on postcards and many souvenirs throughout the island.
He is the sire of the highest selling foal in the history of the Pony Auction at $17,500.00 during the 2007 Pony Penning in July. The palomino pinto colt was lovingly named Tornado's Prince of Tides.
Tornado was retired in 2008 after living on Assateague Island for 20 years.
He now lives here at Hawkeye Stables and is respected and loved for the legend his is!
He still remains a big attraction to his fan club and the many people who visit here each year.
